While traveling in Ecuador on a surf trip, my sister and I discovered the beautiful art and tradition of Ecuadorian hat-making. With a vision of preserving this way of life we launched Greenpacha in March 2011. Greenpacha is based in La Jolla,California and brings to you only 100% hand made toquilla palm panama hats.
While panama hats have been recognized for hundreds of years, we, at Greenpacha, are a new fusion of tradition, design innovation as well as a humanitarian effort. Each one of our panama hats is unique and preserves the passing on of the panama hat weaving tradition.
We donate 2% of all sales to the weaving community in Sig Sig , Ecuador. In the Inca language “pacha” means “times”, hence Greenpacha’s mission to invest it’s efforts in connecting like-minded people to the art of the panama hat tradition.
